The Seal of the 144,000 part 2

Revelation 14:1-5 The Lamb and the 144,000

Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.”

The 144,000 represents very large and perfect number of people; they know the truth of God’s word. These people are not “lost” to YHWH. Name or Shem in Hebrew denotes character and authority. The forehead represents the mind.

“Writing his authority in our mind (on our heart) determines what we think and what we desire.”~ 119ministry

It is the frontal lobe of the brain that discerns wrong from right. This is why the Father’s name is written there upon. This is also the reason scripture mentions the Word of God being written there.

  • Deuteronomy 6:4-8 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.”
  • Jeremiah 31:36 “If those ordinances [Torah] depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever.”
  • Hebrews 12:22-29 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.  See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”
  • Romans 7:25a “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God
  • Hebrews 8:10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people”

It would seem on the surface that the number 144,000 is only given in the book of Revelation. We do not see it openly in the TaNaKh {Old Testament} so the interpretive methodology to understand the number likely stems from something in the book of Revelation.

  • Revelation 21:2 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
  • Revelation 21:12 “And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:”
  • Revelation 21:14 “And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.”

This describes the people of YHVH that taught and observed the instructions of the Creator. 12×12=144 leaving us the multiplier of 1,000.

  • Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.”
  • 1 Chronicles 16:15 “Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.”
  • Psalm 105:8 “He hath remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.”

This gives us a clear picture of those eligible to enter the New Jerusalem. Those that have the foundation of the Word of God under the New Covenant blood of Yeshua. The first covenant (of Abraham) was the blood shed by man in the action of circumcision while the second is the blood shed by Yeshua. Nowhere was the Torah instructions deleted or changed.

  • Revelation 14:12 “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
  • Revelation 12:17 “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The 144,000 is a symbolic representation of the entirety of those in the faith that will enter into the New Jerusalem at the end of the tribulation and the return of Messiah. To further explain this we can look at the Tabernacle and why John was told to measure it.

Revelation 11:1 “And there was given me a reed (for measure) like unto a rod (of correction): and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.”

The outer volume of the Holy of Holies measures 10 cubits X 10 cubits X 10 cubits or 1,000 cubits³. The inner volume would be 9 cubits ( each wall being 1/2 cubit thick) x 9 cubits x 10 cubits or 810 cubits³. The Ark of the Covenant is inside the Holy of Holies and is 2.5 cubits X 1.5 cubits X 1.5 cubits or 5.625 cubits³.

Taking the 810 divided by the 5.625 = 144 x the 1000 = 144,000. The contents of the Ark is the Torah of YHWH.
