1 Timothy 1:1-2

1 Paul, an apostle (messenger) of Jesus Christ by (according to) the commandment (decree) of God our Saviour*, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope**;

*G4990 σωτήρ soter (sō-teer’) n. (specifically) Jesus (Yeshua), the Anointed-One, Christ, Messiah. (see Isaiah 60:16, Acts 13:23, Philippians 3:20)

We have to take note here what Saul/Paul is telling us. He is detailing the fact that Yeshua IS YHVH! Isaiah 60:16 “Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.” Acts 13:23 “Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Savior, Jesus”

**G1680 ἐλπίς elpis (el-piys’) n. the modern English use of the word “hope” is a weakened context (a mere whisper) of what is meant by this biblical Greek word. (properly) This expectation is not from presumption or forcefulness nor a feeling, but from a posture of trust having sound reason for the expectation.
