John 3:1-13 The encounter with Nicodemus part 4.

John 3:1-13 The encounter with Nicodemus part 4.

John 3:12 If G1487 I have told G2036 you G5213 earthly things G1919, and G2532 ye believe G4100 not G3756, how G4459 shall ye believe G4100, if G1437 I tell G2036 you G5213 of heavenly things G2032?

  • G1487 εἰ ei (ei) cond. if, whether, that, etc.
  • G2036 ἔπω epo (e’-pō) v. speak or say
  • G5213 ὑμῖν humin (hï-miyn’) p:p. to (with or by) you.
  • G1919 ἐπίγειος epigeios (e-piy’-ǰei-os) adj. (physically) earthly, terrestrial, (morally) worldly.
  • G4100 πιστεύω pisteuo (piy-stev’-ō) v. to trust (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), i.e. credit. (passively) to be convinced
  • G3756 οὐ ou (ou) prt. Not, no, none
  • G4459 πῶς pos (pōs’) adv. in what way?
  • G4100 πιστεύω pisteuo (piy-stev’-ō) v. to trust (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), i.e. credit. (passively) to be convinced
  • G1437 ἐάν ean (e-an’) cond. in case that, provided that, etc.
  • G2036 ἔπω epo (e’-pō) v. speak or say
  • G5213 ὑμῖν humin (hï-miyn’) p:p. to (with or by) you
  • G2032 ἐπουράνιος epouranios (e-pou-ra’-niy-os) adj. above the sky, celestial, (in) heaven.

“If I speak to you about worldly morality and you do not believe it, how will you believe what I say concerning the heavenly realm?”

John 3:13 And G2532 no man G3762 hath ascended up G305 to G1519 heaven G3772, but G1508 he that came down G2597 from G1537 heaven G3772, even the Son G5207 of man G444 which G3588 is G5607 in G1722 heaven G3772.

  • G3762 οὐδείς oudeis (ou-d̮eis’) adj. not even one (man, woman or thing), i.e. none, nobody, nothing
  • G305 ἀναβαίνω anabaino (a-na-ɓai’-nō) v. to ascend
  • G1519 εἰς eis (eis) prep. into or to (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time.
  • G3772 οὐρανός ouranos (ou-ra-nos’) n. heaven (as the abode of God).
  • G1508 εἰ μή ei me (ei mee’) conj. if not. except
  • G2597 καταβαίνω katabaino (ka-ta-ɓai’-nō) v. to descend, to step down
  • G5207 υἱός huios (hwiy-yos’) n. a son, a descendant.
  • G444 ἄνθρωπος anthropos (an’-thrō-pos) n. the countenance
  • G3588 ὁ ho (ho) t. (of a proper name) not expressed in English (i.e. the Adam, the Jesus).
  • G5607 ὤν on (ōn’) v. being
  • G3772 οὐρανός ouranos (ou-ra-nos’) n. heaven (as the abode of God).

“Not even one man has ascended to the abode of God, except the one who descended from there. The descendant of His countenance, the last Adam being from the abode of God.”

Hebrews 1:3a “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person.”

1 Corinthians 15:45 “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”

Now to piece it all together….

So there was a man from among the separatists, the exclusively religious, called Nicodemus, a chief over those belonging to God.

He {Nicodemus} came forward to Yeshua, at night saying, my master it is obvious you are the teacher sent from YHVH. My reasoning is that no one is capable to do the things you do unless YHVH is with him.

Yeshua responded and said, this is trustworthy and sure, then He laid out truth to Nicodemus. Unless a person is regenerated from YHVH he cannot see the realm of YHVH.

Nicodemus lays forth the question, In what way is it possible for a man to be conceived in birth after he is an old man? It is not possible to reenter the womb!

Jesus lays forth a trustworthy statement and so it shall be, to all he says, unless a person born of human will is regenerated by God’s own breath of life (eternal) they will not be able to live in His realm (heaven).

That (person) which is procreated by human beings is a human being (with all its flaws) and they that are regenerated by the life giving breath of YHVH belong to YHVH.

Why do you wonder when I say to you that you must be regenerated by YHVH?

The air pushes hard in whatever direction it chooses, you can hear its tone, but you cannot see its path or its position. In this same way, people are regenerated by YHVH.

Nicodemus responds by saying, In what way can regeneration be possible?

Yeshua responded by saying, Are you not a teacher to the House of Israel? You do not know these truths?

Jesus lays forth a trustworthy statement and so it shall be to you (Nicodemus). You speak because you personally know how, or why, something happened and you are a witness to it. You cannot discern or grasp merely by the evidence after the fact.

If I speak to you about worldly morality and you do not believe it, how will you believe what I say concerning the heavenly realm?”

Not even one man has ascended to the abode of God, except the one who descended from there. The descendant of His countenance, the last Adam being from the abode of God.

  1. It is claimed that Nicodemus did finally get it, stood up for Yeshua and was part of the early Nazarenes, though he may not have fully given up the oral law of the Pharisees (circumcision is necessary for redemption).
