I got to thinking about Yeshua and his entrance into Jerusalem. How exactly is this a triumphant entry, what things are exampled for us?
Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem, behold thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having Salvation; lowly and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the goal of an ass.”
This was a common practice both in Yeshuas day and for most of history prior. Rather than displaying the ability to conquer when riding in on a steed this entrance brings with it the thought of peace.
In Matthew chapter 21 we see Yeshua instruct the disciples to fetch the colt from the city for his journey. These faithful followers most likely didn’t know why he was making such a request until afterwards. It is very rarely ‘in the moment’ that we recognize the fulfillment of scripture. (The same could be said about prayers being answered… it comes to our attention after reflection and thought.)
