Hidden in plain sight….

The world is getting more progressive in its approach to outright pagan worship. On the rare occasion I watch television I find we are constantly being bombarded by the occult and their desire to teach us false gods and the worship there of…. case in point the TV commercial for a cologne called none other than “Eros”.

Definition of Eros: (courtesy of Miriam Webster online dictionary)

1the Greek god of erotic love — compare cupid
2the sum of life-preserving instincts that are manifested as impulses to gratify basic needs, as sublimated impulses, and as impulses to protect and preserve the body and mind — compare death instinct

a love, conceived by Plato, as a fundamental creative impulse having a sensual element

b often not capitalized erotic love or desire

Here is a still frame of the ad:

This is a blatant attempt to tie together current day consumerism with ancient paganism. This is none other than Aphrodite, to which some would say, “so what” or “who cares she was not real”. I would beg to differ.

In well documented history we see the Cult of Aphrodite was largely derived from that of the Phoenician goddess Astarte, a cognate of the East Semitic goddess Ishtar, whose cult was based on the Sumerian cult of Inanna.

From the Bible we read in 2 Chronicles 33:3 “For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.”

This was the sin of YHVH’s people that lead to them being divorced from YHVH and his protection. We are under constant attack and we must be diligent in our study of YHVH’s word and worship to him lest we be carried away by the world.
