Namely What …Part 4
When I began the 5th grade ( a really long time ago) the teacher started the day with a roll call. Going through the names on a first name basis only she received one reply after another, until, she got to the name “Chris” at which point 8 boys replied “here”! The next 30 seconds contained nothing but laughter by the students and a very perplexed look on the face of the teacher.
Being one of the young men, now older, I can associate the Bob Seeger song ‘Feel like a number’ to that moment in time. The situation remedied itself by half of the boys admitting it was their middle name and they began using their given name. Two went with initials and the last two split on Chris and Christopher, all to the relief of the teacher.
Remember, we will see names throughout the scriptures that are, or look, very similar after they were anglicanized in the creation of the King James Bible. This is the reason for searching out the Hebraic or Aramaic root of the word.
Our next big list of names comes after the flood when we get the genealogy of Noah and his sons. Chapter 10 of Genesis starts us out: “Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.” There are 70 names mentioned here which is the same number as the ‘Table of Nations’ and they will be assigned a separate distinct language at the Tower of Babel.
There is something very telling about the names of the sons. ‘shem’ literally means ‘name’ in Hebrew, yet when given as the name of person it means: honor, authority, character. It has roots in the words ‘shema’ [to hear] and ‘shamar’ [to keep or revere] and God reveals his Torah in the tents of Shem.
Ham is rooted in the words ‘cham’ [hot-blooded], ‘chema’ [confrontational], and ‘chamas’ [warlike] with people of these characteristics being revealed. Instantly we can see the word chamas is very similar to the group plaguing the country of Israel today known as Hamas. This is not coincidence as the ‘c’ is a silent letter in this word. There is very little in this world that comes about by ‘accident’.
Japheth is rooted in the words ‘patah’ [easily deceived], ‘petiy’ [gullible or simple minded] and ‘piytah’ which means easily seduced]. This will greatly enhance understanding of actions of the people in later books as well in all of history.
Genesis 10:2-5 “The sons of Japheth; Gomer (to come to an end), and Magog (barbarous), and Madai, (medes) and Javan (hot and active), and Tubal (confusion), and Meshech (a possession), and Tiras.(desire)
And the sons of Gomer (completion); Ashkenaz (expelled), and Riphath (remedy, medicine), and Togarmah.(which is all bone)
And the sons of Javan; Elishah (it is God that helps), and Tarshish (the epithet of a merchant vessel), Kittim, (islander) and Dodanim (leaders).
By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.”
Dodanim is regarded as identical with the Dardani, who were found in historical times in Illyricum and Troy. The descendants of these sons will become the inhabitants of the Aegean Sea. Those that do not follow YHVH will bring about the worship of Satan under the names of Neptune, Poseidon, Leviathan, Nommos, Hapti, Doris, Triton, Abzu, Asherah, Marduk, Tiamat, Dagon as well as thousands more as dialects changed in antiquity.
Genesis 10:6-8 “And the sons of Ham; Cush (black: terror), and Mizraim (double straightness), and Phut (afflicted), and Canaan. (trafficker) And the sons of Cush; Seba (drink thou), and Havilah (anguish), and Sabtah (compassed the chamber), and Raamah (thunder), and Sabtechah (compassed the smiting): and the sons of Raamah; Sheba (he who is coming), and Dedan.(their love) And Cush begat Nimrod (we shall rebel): he began to be a mighty one (warrior, tyrant) in the earth.
Genesis 10:10-12 “And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel (to confuse or mix), and Erech (to lengthen, prolong or live with), and Accad (to subtly strengthen), and Calneh (fortress of Anu), in the land of Shinar. Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh (abode of Ninus, fish goddess), and the city Rehoboth (avenue or path), and Calah (completion and strength), (Asshur is simply the Assyrian name for Nimrod; Nimrod being a Babylonian name.) And Resen (bridle control) between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city. ”
Where does the fight between good and evil? Consider this: Anu, the Sumerian god known as “Lord of the Constellations, Spirits and Demons” [i.e. Satan] was said to have fathered more than 50 different gods and goddesses of the ancient world. These ancient names of Enlil, Naama, Ishtar and so on, would become the gods and goddesses of the Greeks and Romans. Zeus, Apollos, Diana are all the exact same demons.
Nimrod and his wife Semiramis are known by each of the 70 different languages just by a different name. So reading this back, right to left as the Hebrews write, we can see it was Nimrods goal to: Bridle or control mankind completely with his path to the home and fortress of Anu by subtly strengthening a prolonged mixing or confusion of religion.
Genesis 10:13-14 “And Mizraim begat Ludim (fire brand; travailing), and Anamim (affliction of water), and Lehabim (flames; blades), and Naphtuhim, (openings) And Pathrusim (moistened morsel), and Casluhim (forgiven ones), (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.(bowing to spy)”
The Philistim are known today as the Palestinian people.
Genesis 10:15-19 “And Canaan begat Sidon (hunting) his first born, and Heth,(terror) And the Jebusite (trodden down), and the Amorite (sayers), and the Girgasite,(stranger draw near) And the Hivite (shooting beams of light), and the Arkite (my gnawing), and the Sinite,(thorn) And the Arvadite (shall break loose), and the Zemarite (double woolens), and the Hamathite (enclosures of wrath): and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.
These 5 cities will be destroyed by fire and brimstone in the days of Lot for their wickedness. If after reading these names and seeing their meanings, is it any wonder that the ‘Middle East’ is a war torn and chaotic mess?
