And on the 8th day God created….

The short answer is – Adam. From the time I was 5 years old I have been told that God created the world in 6 days and while that holds true the “creating” part of God continues on. Lets peer back into the Word and see how and why this 8th day is as equally important as the first seven.

Genesis 2:1-5 ” Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,⁵And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

The plant life God created was for mankind’s benefit, plants were to be man’s sole food supply as mankind was created to be a plant eater. Why have a garden if there wasn’t a man to eat the produce? Now we have to grasp the concept that there was not a man yet created to till the soil. However, Genesis 1:27 very clearly states men and women had already been created??!

^1:27So God created man ( הָֽאָדָם֙ ’ā·ḏām) in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Notice two things here: first we are told that God made them (plural) male and female in a simultaneous mention; and second, the use of the word ( הָֽאָדָם֙ ’ā·ḏām) which means “ruddy i.e. a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.)”

What is detailed for us here is the creation of all the races of mankind other than that of Adam and Eve. If I were to go back to age 5 again I could explain this in the song “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight”. It is easy to see how to get this ( הָֽאָדָם֙ ’ā·ḏām) confused for “Adam”. So let us look a little closer at the origin of gardener beginning in verse seven.

Genesis 2:7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust (הָֽאָדָ֗ם hā-’ā-ḏām) of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” On the first glance these two words look the same yet they are very different due to the vowel points, or the marking above and below the characters. The vowel points determine the pronunciation and the use of the word.

The males and females of the 6^th day are the ‘Goyim’ or nations are what are spoken of throughout the scriptures as the Gentiles while Adam begins the line of Hebrews. Psalm 4:3 tells us: “But know that the YHVH hath set apart him that is godly for himself…” As we read on further we will see Cain being expelled from the Garden and immediately he finds a wife and starts a family. This would not be possible if the only humans to be created were Adam and Eve.

I realize full well I wasnt there to see it all go down, yet I am not narrow minded, or stubborn, or whatever some may want to call it, enough to believe God only made two humans and that was it. I am willing to be wrong and seek out further information, and yet, that is exactly how I came to this understanding. The translation of the Hebrew into the KJV was an enormous project especially considering when and where it took place. That will be another post at another time, but suffice to say, there were more challenges than just the ‘lingo’ after the Latin corruption in the creation of the Vulgate around 400 A.D. .

I will end this little rabbit trail with Job 34:4 “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? ” I was still a thought in the process….
