Matthew 4:4 But he {Yeshua} answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
What was He saying to them? We have to look at the words he used closely.
- John 6:35 “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
- Exodus 24:3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do.
It appears to me that Yeshua, who is the Word made flesh, tells us that there is more than just belief in Yeshua for the people of YHVH. Salvation is by faith. Sanctification is through the word.
- James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
-
James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
- John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
The ‘works’ spoken of by James and Yeshua are the Words of YHVH.
- John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
These are the commandments given to Moses that are forever.
- Exodus 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.
-
Exodus 12:17 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; forin this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinanceforever.
- Numbers 15:15 “One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance forever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord.
Amen!!!
