Sabbatical Thoughts…

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 “There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven: a time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot;
 a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build;  a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance;  a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing; a time to search and a time to count as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to be silent and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.”

During my time away there were many times for me to consider the words of the Bible as well as the words of men that have been studying the Bible diligently for several weeks. Here is a list of the thoughts, or statements, that came to me over the 3 days…

“Evil takes advantage of the time when God’s people keep quiet”

“God brought his people out of Egypt, He had to wait for Egypt to come out of the people.”

“There is never a right time to do the wrong thing, likewise, there is never a wrong time to do the right thing.”

“Difficulties often arise when you are applying right beliefs and attempt right living.”

“The worldly environment stands against God’s priorities, but, the heavens declare His glory!”

There is no hope of changing the environment without changing ourselves through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

Football teams do not have wide-takers they have wider receivers, Jesus does not want grace takers, he wants grace receivers.

“Jesus paid the bill before I ever ordered off the menu.”

“True repentance is saying ‘no’ to the things I used to say ‘yes’ to, and, saying ‘yes’ to the things I used to say ‘no’ to.”

GRACE is ….

Given Radical Acceptance Contrary to the Evidence

  1. Jon it was a pleasure to meet you. I sincerely believe i was placed at that table by God in order to meet you. You are someone who will challenge me to deeply learn and cherish God’s word. I encourage you to never give up on anyone regardless of how short sighted they may be in a moment. You know better than most, a lot of humans if not all are silly children looking for the easy way out, for what feels good. Have faith, God will soften their hearts and get their attention eventually. After i have proven dedication to learning I will have a challenge for you with which i believe i can help. But, that is for another time. Your brother in Christ, Darren Phillips.
