Matthew 5:14-20 …Torah = Light

14 Ye are the light (one who illuminates the truth) of the world. A city (multitude) that is set (on course) on an hill (lifted above the plain) cannot be hid. (concealed)

15 Neither do men light a candle (create a portable source of illumination of the truth), and put it under a bushel (suppress its effectiveness), but on a candlestick (gives it support); and it giveth light (illuminated truth) unto all that are in the house. (family, or the people)

16 Let your light (illuminated truth) so shine before men (humanity), that they may see your good (virtuous) works (actions), and glorify (render esteem) your Father which is in heaven.

17 Think not that I am come to destroy (loosen or set aside) the law (Torah), or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (fully execute) (another action in which Yeshua is setting the proper example for us to follow)

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass (perish), one jot or one tittle (the smallest particles of) shall in no wise pass (perish) from the law (Torah), till all (Revelation) be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break (to divorce) one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so (in this way), he shall be called (whose surname) the least in the kingdom of heaven (realm of eternity): but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except (unless) your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees (current day religion), ye shall in no case (not at all) enter into the kingdom of heaven.

First let me say that I am a mere human being that was born into a sinful nature and only by the grace of God almighty and the salvation found in Jesus Christ will I be found acceptable. I pray that you take my words as one weary travelers discoveries and that my intentions are not point fingers at any one denomination or belief system. My life experience has shown me the detailed workings of the Protestant Church to include my participation in seminary and collegiate Bible training, the complete catechism of the Catholic Church and a review of the Quran. None of these were capable of answering many nagging questions concerning the scriptures. After 40 years of "church life" I stopped following the crowds and began a study of the scriptures in the original Hebrew and Greek. Paralleling events in history with the scriptures and deciphering the effect of these events on the lives and theology of the believers. I pray that the information provided here has a three fold effect: 1. provide truth not otherwise provided by the corporate church experience 2. Answer questions that others are either afraid to ask or afraid to answer, and last but not least, 3. bring people to a saving relationship and closer walk with YHVH.
