There are many days where I struggle with being human. I question why I exist and for what purpose I am called. 1 Peter 2:5 tells me, “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
So I look up the word ‘priest’ and find Cohen or Kohen: a member of the Israelite priestly class, descended from Aaron, having sacrificial, ministerial, and other sacred functions.
The priesthood of Aaron was lost to worldly control and Ezekiel prophesied against them at YHWH’s request. Ezekiel 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
We today are not called according to the priesthood of Aaron, but that of Yeshua. He is our High Priest, who is, and in accordance to Melchizedek. Yeshua IS YHWH, who is, the same yesterday today and tomorrow. Yeshua IS the Word and it is perfect as He is perfect.
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
John 1:1,14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
Psalm 19:7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”
The “law” properly translated is Torah….. so we can read these as:
The Torah was made flesh and dwelt among us, it is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. The Torah was in the beginning with YHWH and is the essence of YHWH and is full of grace and truth. The Torah converts the soul making wise we who are foolish.
Hosea 4:6-7 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.”
The danger of rejecting or forgetting the Torah is that we lack spiritual covering. Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Yeshua warns us of this in Matthew 22:11-14 “And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.”
What is the difference between being called and being chosen? One might render it in the same thought to a job interview, they may see several candidates yet they may only hire one or two.
Revelation 17:13-14 “These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.[the people falling for the beast and the one world religion] These shall make war with the Lamb [Jesus], and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [Jesus] are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Revelation 12:17 “And the dragon [Satan] was wroth with the woman [bride of Yeshua], and went to make war with the remnant of her seed [children of the covenant], which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
So what is it that we sacrifice that is acceptable to YHWH through Yeshua the Messiah? Our “good” name? He promises us a new name written in stone. Our earthly family? He promises us a Heavenly family! What could we possibly have now that will not be a million times better….later?
