Exodus 25:1-11

Exodus 25:1-11 The Tabernacle.

The word Tabernacle means ‘to dwell’. Many people do not recognize the fact that Hebrew nouns are rooted in verbs, all of them. They named persons places and things (nouns) after their attributes and actions.

Everything about the Tabernacle reveals Yeshua Messiah.

Ex. 25:1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.
3 And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass,
4 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair,
5 And rams’ skins dyed red, and badgers’ skins, and shittim wood,
6 Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,
7 Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.

These are all the things that YHWH has already given the people in their travels from Egypt to this place in Midian. Similarly YHWH has provided everything for us today to escape the bondage of the world.

8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us”

9 According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.
10 And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.

The word shittim is derived from the word shotet which means ‘to flog’. They are most picturesque trees with their gnarled trunks, sometimes 2 ft. thick, their twisted, thorny branches, which often give the whole tree an umbrella-like form, and their fine bipinnate leaves with minute leaflets.

The tree appears to be disfigured, to which, the Messiah was disfigured by the Romans guards by a flogging. The thorny branches were used to make the crown of thorns and represent the piercing of the Savior. The branches of the tree typically form an umbrella like covering which represents the Messiahs covering of our sins.

11 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.

The covering of the wood in gold provides a shining or reflection of light. This is the same with the people of Messiah who are to be the reflection of his light.

John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

John 1:4 “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”acacia-tree-603615_1280
